September came and went very quickly this year, and although we have said goodbye to summer, our team were looking ahead to our annual Harris team wellbeing day – which took place on Friday 27th September. It has been four years since our first wellbeing day back in 2021, and it is now a yearly activity that the Harris team looks forward to.
Usually on the last Friday in September, the day sees us logging off around midday to regroup as a team, take some time away from our screens and have some fun – with a healthy dose of competitiveness in the form of team games.
Our previous wellbeing days have involved a garden party, picnic or barbeque – however after a particularly wet and cold September, we opted for an indoor activity this year, and decided to try axe throwing at Boom Battle Bar in Leeds. Thanks to the patient coaching from their staff, all but one of the team managed to throw at least one axe at the target, which is a lot harder than it looks! Our senior front end developer Richard was particularly skilled, finishing with an excellent score of 34 points.
After axe throwing, we enjoyed a 30-minute game of shuffleboard, another new experience for most of the team. After an extremely competitive half an hour, we headed down to White Cloth Hall, a new food and drinks hall where the team took advantage of their wide range of options – between us we ordered tacos, bao buns, a curry and even a whole chicken!
After a well deserved day of decompressing, we are now back in the office working on a number of exciting campaigns and projects with our clients, with one eye on our next full team outing – the Christmas party!
