Leading calls for change with S Jones Containers

S Jones Containers is a fourth generation family business with a rich 111-year history and 40 years’ experience in the shipping container trade from its 12-acre storage depot site in the West Midlands.

Having been appointed by S Jones Containers for PR services in 2024 to build brand awareness, one of our key priorities in 2025 was the promotion of its upcoming panel discussion on the issue of safe battery testing and development at this year’s prestigious Fire Safety Event.

Building brand awareness

As a trusted supplier of bespoke shipping containers for the manufacturing sector, S Jones Containers is highly experienced in supporting the vital and cutting-edge research currently in progress by UK manufacturers to develop next generation battery power. This includes increasing the safety of electric vehicle batteries, and S Jones Containers has provided a number of modified containers specially designed for destructive battery testing – requiring specifications that incorporate advanced safety mechanisms as well as fire and explosion risk reduction features.

Based on S Jones Containers’ expertise in providing bespoke solutions for this purpose, our team launched a dedicated PR campaign to build brand awareness and establish the business as a thought leader ahead of its designated panel discussion slot at the industry-leading Fire Safety Event 2025.

We commenced our campaign in August 2024 with a press release calling for changes to legislation relating to the manufacture of powerful lithium-ion batteries used in e-bikes, following the announcement of the Product Safety and Metrology Bill in the King’s Speech.

Utilising our PR team’s media relations, built throughout Harris’ almost 40 years’ experience in the sector, we issued the press release to highly targeted publications across the construction, manufacturing, offsite, and regional press resulting in impressive coverage. As well as helping to achieve our aim of brand awareness through increased press coverage, our carefully-planned timing of the press release – when the topic of product safety was already being discussed on a national level – ensured S Jones Containers’ message was received by the right people at the right time ahead of the Fire Safety Event.

Creating industry interest

Building on the success of the initial press release and in order to continue the momentum, Harris subsequently created a press release formally announcing that S Jones Containers would be hosting a panel discussion at the Fire Safety Event 2025, led by its Conversions General Manager. The news story announced the key topics that would be discussed by the panel and teased the upcoming announcement of the remaining three panellists.

Behind the scenes, Harris supported S Jones Containers by utilising the company’s strong client relations and growing reputation to secure three leading figures across the sector to also take part in the panel discussion. Harris then launched a further press release in March 2025, one month prior to the Fire Safety Event, announcing all four panel members and acting as a reminder for S Jones’ Containers’ presence at the event.

The result

As well as gaining significant coverage throughout the eight-month campaign to support overall brand awareness, Harris’ ongoing pre-event support contributed to a successful and high profile panel discussion. The discussion had unprecedented attendance – with standing room only for many delegates at the 30-minute slot – and many attendees were keen to speak to the panellists immediately after the discussion had ended, ultimately leading to impressive lead generation for S Jones Containers.

“In July 2024, Harris first spoke to me about the recent coverage they had seen regarding the upcoming Product Safety and Metrology Bill, and the opportunities they had identified to promote our battery storage and testing unit expertise as part of the wider discussion on electric battery safety. Their team had put together a phased plan of press releases, award entries and promotion, culminating in the business exhibiting and hosting a panel session at the Fire Safety Event the following April. We gained significant coverage with each release, even being published in international journals and the most respected engineering magazines in the fire sector.

“Following the campaign, we have seen enquiries and interest in these units increased. We also secured an invitation to repeat our speaking session at Europe’s largest electric battery event, the Battery Cells and Systems Expo being held in July 2025, thanks to the success of the campaign.”
